Job Description

As a Buying Manager at this market leading high street fashion retailer, you will manage the buying team in the most effective manner to deliver budgeted sales and profit growth, keeping product profile in line with agreed Company direction. Responsibilities/ Objectives: 1. To formulate the strategic direction for the department, in conjunction with the Merchandising Manager and Buying Director. 2. To plan and agree sales, margin and stock budgets, in conjunction with the Merchandising Manager, Buying Director and Buying & Merchandising teams. 3. To steer product direction through: -· Management of trend forecasting and freelance design resource· Co-ordination of forecasting shows and shopping trips· Control of looks and product specification through planning meetings 4. To co-ordinate weekly trading action, in conjunction with the Merchandising Manager: -· OTB and intake change· Repeat and markdown authorisation· Promotional/visual merchandising activity 5. To manage departmental resource in the most effective manner: -· Structure planning· Headcount and remuneration· Colleague development· Competency review· Capex and revenue budgeting proposals 6. To co-ordinate supply chain issues: -· Overview of supply base· Imports and logistics liaison 7. Brand promotion· Internal marketing liaison - windows, promotions and events· External PR liaison· Brand packaging overview· Presentation forums -retail operations conference/Board reviews 8. To establish and maintain best quality standards and processes through management of the departmental Senior QA. 9. To ensure effective communication of departmental business to Buying Director and trading team colleagues. 10. To undertake any other ad hoc responsibilities as required by the Buying Director.
