A great role has just arisen within this leading UK brand for a Womens' Tailoring Designer. The brand is known for its high quality, design-led contemporary ranges and the position will cover Womens' jackets, trousers, skirts and outerwear. Key Responsibilities: * Research and create inspiration boards for the new season * Work closely with the Head of Design to produce seasonal story boards and colour palette * Brief print designers through clear use of inspirational story boards * Choosing relevant fabrics and trims * To include innovation and “newness” in all designs that are presented * Maintaining a detailed understanding of the customer and an awareness of relevant trends to the target market * Ensuring that all designs fit in with initial concepts and stories * Carrying out of regular and detailed research including shopping, Internet and relevant magazine research * Researching the company sales history and keeping abreast of current sales * Monitoring key competitor activity (designs / colours / fabrics / price points) through regular comp shopping trips * To go on development/research trips as required to the Far East * Presenting clear flat sketches of initial designs including design detail and measurements for ease of supplier understanding * To work with suppliers / manufacturers to produce samples for selection * Attending all fit sessions and, with the garment technology team, approving the fit of all selected styles * Managing the timely sign off of all colour, print and trim submissions In return the brand is offering an attractive package and excellent prospects If you have design experience at a UK brand or retailer, or have a mix of supplier and retail design experience, ideally on multi product, and are looking for a new challenge, please get in touch.
