Why you work in recruitment and why Quest?

Before Quest, I had five years in retail management under my belt and had always loved the industry as well as being very determined and target driven. I realised, however, I loved the people element of retail more than the product side and the fast-paced, results-driven nature of recruitment appealed to me as a way to stay in the world I love. I chose Quest because I was really impressed meeting them; everyone had so much energy, knowledge and passion for the industry. I could see how this had shaped their reputation in the marketplace. Also, it’s such a fun and challenging place to work.

What is challenging and rewarding about the role?

The challenges come from the fact that, instead of selling food as I used to, I am now selling people.  They are a lot less predictable, and things don’t always go to plan! I've learnt, however, to make sure I fully understand what a candidates' motivations are for going for a job, and that it's something that will be right for them. This approach helps when going through all the stages of finding them the right job. I certainly have thicker skin these days.

The rewards balance out the challenges. It's great that the harder you work, the more you get back. Obviously, the financial rewards are great, but ultimately for me, it's the rush of finding that great candidate for a position and filling the job. I work with many different clients on a diversity of roles. My days are always different; I get to talk to some fascinating people working across a range of famous retail brands.

Quest is also great at recognising performance with office incentives; I have been to some great restaurants in London in the past couple of years thanks to my performance!

What have you achieved at Quest?

I am  proud of the business development I have done since joining, bringing in new clients for Quest to work with. Last year I successfully billed the most revenue from new business out of all the consultants here at Quest. I have built some great relationships with retailers out there and am proud to represent the clients that I do in the market. I have placed several senior candidates in the market and exceeded my billing targets for several quarters throughout the years. I have built the fashion business up to an extent that I am now mentoring other team members to work on my accounts and grow the business further. I am now hoping to continue to grow my team, and work my way up through the ranks with Quest. 

Why you work in recruitment and why Quest?

I joined Quest as a fresh graduate after completing a BSc in Sociology & Social Psychology at Loughborough. Not having a natural vocation through my degree I knew I wanted a role that was target-orientated as well as being very much focused on people; recruitment sounded like a good option!

What is challenging and rewarding about the role?

The challenge is that no two days are the same! Priorities may change on a regular basis, and it's about developing and managing your workload. The rewards are great financially in recruitment, but there are still other reasons we go to work. At Quest, we create a challenging, rewarding and fun workspace.

Quest also have other great incentives such as meals out, trips away and retail vouchers. Being a manager I am keen on growth and developing others to achieve their goals. It’s great to see people you have hired as novices become great consultants that are making a difference with their own development and getting financial rewards.

What have you achieved at Quest?

I have been in the business for 12 years and love the role and the opportunity to develop your own team and business. I have achieved on-going development, management training and developed a diverse portfolio of clients. I have achieved a number of awards during my tenure here including being the highest billing consultant ever in Quest's 22 years of existence! So very pleasing results and not to mention having a successful team who are an asset to the business.
