Head of Buying - South East - £70,000-£100,000

This leading international food retailer seeks a Head of Buying to work closely with other senior members of the business and liaise proactively with all departments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and implementing the category's trading strategy to ensure long-term revenue, quality and market share in accordance with the wider business strategy
• Developing the functional plan, targets and budgets for each year
• Developing existing product ranges in line with business strategy while ensuring brand consistency
• Coordination and planning of promotional campaigns along with senior members of the Marketing department
• Implementing new systems and processes designed to deliver maximum results and meet business needs
• Reporting on the operational and financial success of the category and taking appropriate action on the findings
• Management of all pricing including discounts, bonuses, promotions and special offers

To be successful, you should have:

• Proven experience of successfully leading a cross-functional trading team
• Very strong negotiating skills
• Experience of leading at a strategic business level
• Excellent management skills
• The ability to think and plan strategically
• Good data analysis and numerical skills

Knowledge of the grocery industry is highly desirable, as is previous category management experience within a retail environment. You should be an adaptable individual who can tailor your approach to a variety of situations and audiences and who champions creative thinking within their team.
