Managing Director - Food Services - Dubai - £150,000

One of the region's biggest food retailers is currently in the market to appoint a Managing Director to join and assist its team in its current development and future expansion plans.

The successful candidate will:

• Have overall responsibility for the initial setting up and launch of the respective business line and the ongoing growth, profitability and operations
• Be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership and for transitioning the business line from the project mode to an ongoing steady state operations mode
• Be responsible for translating the strategic business plans into well-defined operational plans to meet business objectives
• Define and put in place suitable performance management metrices & reporting structures to monitor performance against set objectives
• Set the budgets for next year, execute on the annual, medium-term & long-term plans for the business with the immediate objective of setting-up and launching the business line including the building of the team
• Own the P&L for the business line and drive cost optimisation
• Take overall responsibility for the operations of the business, setting & ensuring standards of excellence
• Plan, build & nurture the infrastructure, resources, leadership & processes for delivery of the annual plan
• Take charge of talent acquisition, nurturing, mentoring & retention
• Be accountable for compliance risk management for the business line
• Put in place processes & reporting to ensure compliance to all statutory norms
• Provide functional expertise in the nature of best practices to ensure realisation of financial plans
• Ensure roll out of new stores across the country as well as optimise the performance of current operational stores
• Ensure co-ordination with all functions to deliver the SLA’s agreed
• Provide leadership for the business line and be a role model for the team
• Nurture a culture of excellence and performance within the organisation with processes to measure and recognise merit
• Drive establishment of processes for quality & compliance in all areas of the business
• Drive the diversity initiative in the format

The ideal candidate will come from a foods retailing background operating at the highest level. Strong leadership and communicational skills are essential.
