Buying and Merchandising Jobs

Buying is generally perceived as being about purchasing the right products for the best price in order to drive sales performance, however a Buyer’s role incorporates many different elements such as pricing management, implementing promotions and merchandising. Buyers are also usually responsible for supplier selection and negotiation, category strategy development and FE or global sourcing.

To be successful in a Buying role, you will need excellent negotiation skills, cross-functional communication skills and sound numerical and analytical ability. Quest offers a wide range of Buying jobs, from an entry level Buying Administrator or Assistant Buyer all the way through to senior appointments such as Head of Buying or Buying Director.

Buyers often work closely with Merchandisers. Merchandising is an analytical discipline involving reports such as WSSI using MS Excel and OTB or Open-to-Buy, which involves benchmarking, stock planning and allocating. There are various job levels within Merchandising including Assistant Merchandiser, Senior Merchandiser and Merchandising Director.

We specialise in Buying and Merchandising jobs within the following retail areas: Fashion, DIY, Homewares, Food, Clothing, Electricals, Sports Goods, Cosmetics, Health & Beauty and Entertainment in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

These quick links represent roles which we always have available in Buying & Merchandising but the list is by no means exhaustive:
